The University of Virginia is a medium-sized coed public college in Charlottesville, Virginia. Established in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson UVA ranks as the 2nd best public university. UVA offers 56 different bachelor degrees, 79 master’s degrees and has a law, and medicine school. Students can get a doctoral degree in 52 different fields.

With an acceptance rate of 30% UVA is not the easiest school to get into. Most freshman scored in the top tenth of their graduating class and scored over a 1230 on the SAT on the 1600 scale. More than 50% of students scored over a 26 on their ACT. Of all 28,021 applicants in 2013 only 8,706 were admitted. 93% of enrolled students had a GPA of 3.75 and above; the average GPA is a 4.22.

UVA is 61% white and 55% women. It offers coed housing as well as apartments for single and married students. UVA is 25% greek life and offers sorority and fraternity housing on campus. The average class size is about 10-14 students with only 7% of classes having over 100 students.

Students rave about all there is to do in Charlottesville and stand by their school no matter what. They say that although the school is a bit on the pricey side, it is worth every sent! UVA may be for you if you put alot of emphasis on education but still enjoy some entertainment on the side.
