There have been rumors all summer, Arlingtonians. And it turns out they are true! Ultimate Frisbee is an official sport being offered at the high school level this fall! Ultimate Frisbee is a combination of soccer, football, and…frisbee. The best way to know if you like the sport is to try it in September.
Washington-Lee and Yorktown had a combined team last year, and the entire county has gotten in on the fun. Wakefield Athletic Trainer Becky Kigin said, “Ultimate will be at the Intramural level at Wakefield this year. It is always good to offer more sports to students….anything to get bodies active.”
School Board member, Barbara Kanninen said this of the APS decision to adopt this sport county-wide, “Ultimate is a welcoming, inclusive sport that is fun, friendly, and highly competitive. I’m excited that we’ll have teams at every middle and high school in Arlington and can’t wait to see the first games this fall.”
We will see flying saucers this fall, #warriornation. Join in on the fun and keep that summer feeling long into October.
