A lot of people think that homelessness is not an issue in Arlington. It is. Last year, A-Span gave shelter to 506 Arlingtonians. Many schools in the county are hosting walk-a-thons this month to help build donations to help end homelessness in Arlington.

Interact has always had a relationship with A-Span. Last year the club did the ultimate warrior competition, but this year they decided to do the walk-a-thon.

Students and staff have until November 4th, during all lunches, to donate for the walk-a-thon. If people donate $10, they will get a t-shirt and entered into a raffle to win tickets to Prom, Redskins mini-helmets, or restaurant gift certificates. If an entire class donates $1 each, they can walk together. The walk-a-thon itself is on November 6th, and it’s an all day event.

The donations are given to A-Span’s Winter Shelter.
