Champions League Semis: The Final Step
Possibly the most important game of the season. The whole world is watching, and every move can decide the fate of your team. This is Champions League!
Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid 3-0
The same matchup we had in last year’s final. This is the big Madrid rivalry. This will be a very tough game as 2 of the biggest teams face each other in the biggest club competition in the world. Real Madrid control the game from the start and get their first goal instantly in the 9th minute from a great Casemiro cross. Real get another headed chance through Varane whose effort is saved by Oblak. The game is still one sided as we reach half-time.
Still complete domination by the favorites Real Madrid as we reach the 3rd quarter of the game. With another goal by Ronaldo with a great volley in the top left corner they surely wrapped up the game. Oh my! Another goal for Real Madrid! and Ronaldo! giving him the hat trick! He plays some great passes with Lucas Vasquez and finishes easily. Full time and what a game it’s been 3 goals for Ronaldo and surely Real Madrid are on to the final in Cardiff. MOTM Ronaldo!
Monaco vs Juventus 0-2
Juventus are the clear favorites in this tie as they have not conceded a Champions League goal in over 600 minutes, that’s over 6 games! Monaco have come a long way this season in the Champions League and in Ligue 1 and will definitely make it a tough match!
Juventus control the game but the first chance goes to Monaco after a great volley by Mbappe and barely saved by Buffon. Monaco are getting more and more chances but are quickly shut out by Higuain who makes it 1-0 for Juventus. Bakayoko comes close in the 31st but he can’t quite get to the ball fast enough. Halftime comes and Monaco have been struggling for the crucial equalizer.
Monaco are putting some pressure on Juventus in the beginning of the second half but still can’t seem to score on the Juventus backline. Juventus then make it 2 in the 59th after a cross is swung in by Alves and it is beautifully met by the man himself, Higuain. This is surely the game winner for Juventus.
Another game won, another clean sheet in the Champions League for Juventus. This team is a big contender for the Final in Cardiff and could go on and win the whole thing. MOTM Higuain
Juventus vs Monaco 2-1
Juventus came into this game with a 2-0 lead in the series and all they needed to do is not lose, which they didn’t. Mandžukiç taps in a goal to make it 1-0 (3-0), later in the game Dani Alves scores a magnificent volley to completely seal the game. Mpabbe gets a consolation goal for Monaco, and breaks 2 records in the process, first he is the first to score against Gianluigi Buffon in 6 CL game, and second broke the record of the biggest age gap between a goal scorer and the keeper, 7,621 days. MOTM Dani Alves
Atletico Madrid vs Real Madrid
Atleti tried to inspire the comeback, yet sadly failed. Saul scored early and Griezmann makes it 2 by a penalty. All Atletico needed at this point was one more goal to send the game into overtime. Isco destroys that hope buy scoring and ending Atleti’s hope of CL glory. MOTM Isco
Also the UCL’s sister league the UEL (UEFA Europa League) just ended yesterday and Manchester United beat Ajax 2-0 in the final. They join the Elite group of teams that have won every European competition along with Chelsea, Bayern, Juventus, and Ajax. Congrats, Manchester United!
