Aside from securing your date, the second biggest thing on your mind, a few months before prom, would most likely be choosing the perfect prom dress.

Before you even begin the hunt, decide on a budget and stick to it. Then think carefully on the length, style, strapless or not, designer, and most importantly the color of your dress.

Are you frilly or classic, outspoken or conservative? Your prom dress should reflect who you are. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. You want to be comfortable and natural. You’ll have the most fun when your dress is true to your own personality.

Nuria Loza ’14 commented, “shopping at an actual store is time consuming and sometimes the location of the store can be kind of far.” However, if you go to an actual store you can see the dress face-to- face and see for yourself if the dress is worth the purchase. Also you can check other dresses at the store if the one dress that you were looking for doesn’t turn out the way you envision it. However, going to a prom dress store can be overwhelming because many girls are after the same goal and you just have to fight for the dress you want.

Liliana Castillo ’14, “shopping online for a prom dress is different from shopping in an actual store. You have to know what you’re getting into if you shop online.” One thing for sure is that the dress won’t be true to its color, the material might not be something you had in mind, and size might be inaccurate. While shopping online, keep in mind the time frame when you ordered your dress because the dress might not come in time for prom.

Remember, this is a night full of dancing, so you will most likely not be comfortable dressing in something that is too tight or hard to move in. Shannon Watt ’14 stated, “Don’t buy a smaller size intending to lose weight.” After all, not all sizes are created equal! If it fits right, it’s your perfect size.
