Artists Among Us: Aubrey Mahoney
Everyone can remember making some sort of craft or art project in kindergarten and feeling that spark of inspiration that comes from creating something new.
Junior and AP Art student, Aubrey Mahoney first remembers art in kindergarten when she made a comic book for Hurricane Katrina survivors. Drawn to art by a love of displaying her creativity, Aubrey has gone on to win three awards in the Scholastics Art and Writing Competition (two silvers and one gold).
Her current project is inspired by the idea of unrequited love, with the yellow hue symbolizing euphoria and the painting itself looking at a range of personified emotions.
With such an inspired idea, there is no doubt Aubrey’s creativity will take her far.
