Although we all know that Christmas is the season of giving, it’s also just as important to donate after the holidays. Look into taking some time this Spring Break to go through the items you have that are no longer needed by you. Simple things such as clothing, nonperishable food items, blankets, etc. are all basic necessities, but not everybody is blessed enough to have them.
Donation places only experience a major increase in donations around the Winter Holidays, and people still need basics through out the year. There are people all over the world struggling to keep hygiene products, clothing, general bathroom necessities, and food in their homes. There are always going to be people in need, and with the help of a donation, you could be keeping someone warm, feeding someone, or even just helping someone to be able to clean themselves.
Some examples of local places to donate are: Goodwill, the Columbia Pike thrift store, Salvation Army, AFAC, and Donation Nation. All it takes to find a place to donate is a simple google search.
There is never a bad time to donate. Take a moment to think about all the items that you are lucky enough to own, and realize that it is a privilege to have these things. You can begin to make a difference with a simple donation. Not only could you make someone’s day, you are also making a difference in our community. Try to take the time to look through the items that you own, the things that aren’t bringing you joy anymore, don’t fit, or you just simply don’t use anymore.
Donate, and it could make someone’s day. It is just a simple way that we can all help the people around us.
