Caitlin Clark will miss the rest of the season, and will not be on the court in the playoffs due to a groin injury she suffered in mid-July. Although she works hard every day to recover, doctors say there’s not enough time left in the season for her to safely return.
According to AP News, she said this of her injury status, “I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season…I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there, disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty.” Clark, who was named Rookie of the Year in 2024, said she’s heartbroken but proud of her team for staying strong through tough times. She thanked fans for their support and said she’s focused on healing so she can come back strong in 2026.
Clark had been doing light drills and trying to get back on the court. She averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5 rebounds in 13 games this season. Fever officials say her health is the top priority and they’ll continue to support her recovery. Even though she won’t play again this year, her leadership and spirit have made a big impact on the team.
The Fever are currently facing off against the Aces in the WNBA playoffs. They are tied 1-1 right now. Game 3 is this Friday at 7:30pm. Watch it on ESPN.
