Wakefield Defeats Eastern, Remains Unbeaten
On December 8th, the Wakefield Warriors hosted Eastern High School, tough competition from Washington DC. The game was full of energy. The boys won 83-66, but had to fight for every point.
Through the first quarter, Eastern played very competitively…hard, fast and physical. So, the Warriors were only winning by 3 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Warriors started to pull away, as they outscored Eastern and had a halftime lead of 43-33. The third quarter was the toughest for the Warriors. They only made 14 points, and Eastern made 13 points that round. They finished off the game with a win and a final score of 83-66.
Some major contributors were Jonathan Adams with a career high of 29 points. Eric Martin and Deng Nhial both put up 13 points. Alan Treakle, who is the Warriors’ top scorer, also helped by scoring 12 points. Treakle said, “we could not have won this game with out the help from Jonathan Adams who not only had the most points, he also blocked a couple of shots on defense and grabbed some key rebounds.”
