Careless

Careless

Qiao Huei, Liu '19, Staff Writer

I was out with my friends

They were talking on and on

I was sitting there

Listening to their empty conversations

My friends teased me

saying that I am silent, blend in the background

Deep in my heart,

I don’t care what they are talking about

I feel tired when they are talking

when they are screaming with excitement

To avoid them seeing the true me

I wear a mask, to camouflage

to hide my real thoughts

Lying

Has become a protection

From the darkness that no one sees

They don’t know the true me

When they are so careless

How will they know what I’m thinking

When they don’t try to understand me?
