The Warriors Still Battle on with Heartbreaking 2-5 Record

Last Friday night the Wakefield Warriors faced off with the Lee Lancers for the Homecoming game. The teams went back and forth scoring and keeping the game close in the firssthalf, but after a fourth quarter that just kept stacking against the Warriors, the Warriors lost 34-14.

The Warriors began the game with a solid drive down the field and scored. Junior Rodney Lee started it off with a touchdown run to make the score 7-0 Wakefield on top. Both teams went back and forth but remained scoreless for the remainder of the first half  going into the third quarter 7-0, Wakfield.

The Lancers started off the third quarter with touchdown but missing the extra point, making the score 7-6, Wakefield still in the lead. The Warriors responded with a touchdown run from Kesean Deshazer and a successful extra point from sophomore Luis Pinto making the score 14-6 late in the third quarter. The Lancers bounced right back with a long touchdown run and with a 2 point conversion, tied the game up at 14-14. The Lancers managed to score once more in the third quarter making it 20-14, Lancers going into the 4th quarter. The Lancers scored twice more before the end of the game. The final score was 34-14. The scoreboard did not show how hard the Warriors worked throughout this game, a few big plays from the Lee Lancers resulted in a hard loss on homecoming night.

Sophomore quarterback Cason Poythress said, “This loss hurt, but it’s behind us now, what happened is in the past and we have to prepare for the upcoming games.”

The Warriors play TODAY against the Falls Church Jaguars @ Falls Church. Come out and support the Warriors as they fight to get their season back on track with a win in the books.
