Gymnasts Build Strong Base This Season

The gymnastics team has had a productive season! With a lot of new people on the team, they have faced their fair share of challenges, but have come together with a strong bond entering districts today.

The team has participated in 7 meets this season. Although they started rocky, the team has progressively gotten better throughout the season, performing their best at their most recent meet, the Washington-Lee Invitational.

One of the highlights this season included Junior Anne Felipe scoring a 9 during the McLean Meet. When asked how she felt about this big moment, Anne explained, “In high school, the gymnastics scoring works differently. It’s really hard to get a 9, but I got a 9 on the beam . I was ecstatic; it was great.”

Looking back on the season, Anne Felipe is proud of the team’s efforts: “this years focus wasn’t really ‘how much can we win?’ It was more ‘how  well can we build the team, and build a strong base for next year?'”

Tonight at 6:30 is the District Meet hosted by Marshall. Come out and support the team!
