Where Will J.D. Martinez Land?

With the MLB season right around the corner the top free agent power hitter of the offseason, J.D Martinez, has not yet signed with a team. Martinez, a 30 year old slugger, is coming off the best season of his life, when he hit 45 home runs. He is considered the best power hitter in this years class of free agents.

Many believe that the Red Sox are the front runners looking to offer Martinez a five year deal around a $125 million. However many analysts think that the Red Sox can simply not afford Martinez and believe that signing him would put them over the $197 million cap.

There are definitely other options as Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Todd Frazier and Logan Morrison remain unsigned. There are many teams, including the Braves, Pirates and Giants, in need of power hitters and this free agent class should definitely fill the need.
