What? A 17 year old going to see the Lego Movie? And he liked it? That can’t be.

The Lego Movie is a movie about an ordinary lego man being mistaken for a MasterBuilder. He gets recruited to use his incredible skills that will help defeat Lord Business and free the universe from his evil reign.

Wow. You did read that right. The plot makes this movie sound like the cheesiest, most childish film you have ever heard of. And if you thought that, you would be correct. But this movie isn’t just for that kid that runs home after school and plays with his legos (like I did), this movie is for everyone.

As a Wakefield student, some days I feel like I am just going through the motions. I feel that some teachers see me as one of many students  – a face in the crowd. One of the great lessons this movie teaches you is that every single person is special in their own way, and it takes the discovery of a unique talent or trait to distinguish themselves from the rest of the crowd. But it’s our individual talents that make the community that we are in so special. Every single person is part of a community. Go out and see this movie and it will make you realize that just because you are part of a crowd doesn’t mean you aren’t special.

I did play with Legos when I was a kid. But that’s not why I loved this movie. I loved this movie because I love watching movies. This movie is fun for all ages, as it makes jokes that both a five year old and a fifty year old would find funny. Take your little sibling to see it because they will think you are the coolest ever. Take your parents to see it because they will think you want to be their little child again. But most importantly take yourself, because this is a movie that every single person will love.
