Boys Baseball Rallies For Their First Win
April 30, 2014
It started out as a normal day at the office for the Wakefield baseball team. It was the second game of the season, and all the guys had finished batting practice before the Mount Vernon Majors had even arrived, and they were feeling prepared and confident about their chances. It was a slightly ominous day as the sky was cloudily gloomily, and the thickness in the air from incoming rain was felt all around.
Luckily though, the rain held off the entire night. Because of these climactic conditions, the atmosphere was a bit dull and energy was low.
Right from the start however, it was obvious that this was going to go down to the wire. The first few innings went by at an astonishingly fast pace, as both pitchers mowed down hitters and relied on clinical defense to keep each offense from threatening.
After six and a half innings, the Majors were up three to one.
A last second rally by the Warriors set Jalen Carver up for a walk off scenario. The bases were loaded and the score was tied at three when Jalen stepped into the batter’s box. With the crowd tensing up after each pitch, Jalen ripped a walk off double down the right field line to seal the win.
He was mobbed at first base, and the team celebrated their first win in over twenty games. The Warriors currently have 2 wins and 3 losses. There are 2 weeks left in the season Warriors! Check here to find out how you can support your Warriors!
