Winter Storm Watch in Maui?

Polipoli Spring State Recreation Area on Maui was blanketed in snow this weekend during a powerful winter storm. At 6,200 feet, this may be the lowest elevation at which snow has been recorded in Hawai’i.

When we think of Hawai’i, we think of sunny beach days that last forever. Unfortunately, the new reality is much different. For perhaps the first time ever, it has snowed in Maui. Accompanying the snow are huge swells and high winds. Haleakala National Park’s summit is closed because of unsafe winter conditions which include snow and ice.

This most recent instance of insane weather is further proof that climate change is a looming and impending issue. Read more here.
