ECOS in Action

Wakefield’s very own Environmental club – the Environmentally Conscious Organization of Students (ECOS) has collected over 274 pounds of trash in the past few months. Senior and ECOS member Alex said of helping to clean up Four Mile Run, “It is kinda rewarding knowing that you are part of something bigger and you are helping.” Watch the video to see more of their clean up efforts to date.

*These events have been CANCELLED due to the coronavirus: ECOS and Interact Club had an Earth Week 2020 Clean-Up Challenge scheduled for April 22nd (Earth Day) at Wakefield and a kayak stream clean up scheduled on April 25th in collaboration with Four Mile Run Conservatory Foundation.

Dr. Tracy, the Sustainability Liason at Wakefield and Science teacher said, “April is Earth Month, but not just ANY Earth month. Wednesday, April 22nd will be the 50th annual Earth Day. There will be virtual events hosted all month, including an Earth Week kick-off event on April 19th. There will be virtual climate strikes, conferences, and all sorts on online events.”

ECOS Club (@whs_ecos) and Interact Club (@wakefield_interact) have joined together to celebrate Earth Week virtually this year.

Wednesday is No Waste Wednesday, Thursday is Thread Up Thursday, and play some Earth Week Bingo, too:
