Over the last few months, you’ve probably heard the word impeachment over and over again. “Trump’s Impeachment” and “Biden’s Impeachment Inquiry” are all that the news stations can really talk about, and the details and charges are overwhelming. But don’t worry, I’ll explain everything as simply as I can, which might be hard, as politics are really rugged. I’ll try my best.
Over the last couple of years, Trump’s had it rough. I’m not a political guy, and that’s not what I’m sympathizing for, but he’s gone through 3 trials in 4 years, all of which took a couple of weeks. Although that might not be a lot, it’s just a real inconvenience. But the charges were really reasonable, so it’s his problem.
Now Trump has to go through a Civil Fraud Trial in New York because he “routinely overstated his net worth — sometimes by more than $2 billion — during years when the actual values of his real estate holdings were far less than he claimed,” according to ABC. This was apparently so he could get taxed less. I don’t know how that works, because he’s saying it is worth more, so I think he would get taxed more, but it’s probably some legal business, so I don’t really know. CBS even confirms, “Trump has already been found liable for fraud, but the trial is proceeding on several other accusations, including falsification of business records and conspiracy.” The aim of this trial is for him to lose multiple of his assets, to be fined $250 million, and for him to no longer be able to do business in New York.
Anyways, he’s not the only modern President to be currently under investigation. Biden is, too. Love him or hate him, Biden is our president. Biden’s being tried for not only profiting from Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals, but also by using his position to “leverage” his family. According to The Washington Post, “Dubinsky insinuated that the Biden family may be utilizing shell companies for ‘nefarious’ reasons- to either launder money or hide a transaction.” According to every news source I’ve seen, the whole thing flopped as soon as it started, and most of the claims had no evidence to prove them. But, it’s being called the “first” impeachment trial, which may either mean it’s his first one ever, or there’s more coming up soon.
You may be asking “Why is everybody going after each other, anyway?” Well, that’s because it’s politics.
People with conflicting viewpoints can’t always work together, especially when they’re both too stubborn to accept new ideas. And all this leads to plethoras of issues they’re too busy arguing over to fix.
I guess it’s true what they say, “When elephants fight, it’s the grass that suffers”.
