Several new restaurants opened (are are set to open) near Wakefield with plenty of good food and even some seasonal options. If you haven’t tried them yet, the winter is the best time to try them because indoor activities are better when it is cold outside.

1 – Astro Donuts and Fried Chicken

Located only 2 miles from Wakefield, this new location is in Shirlington. This new store offers two American food staples for breakfast and lunch. With its creative, small, but varied selection of classic donuts , its wide selection of fried to order mini donuts featuring classic donut flavors such as vanilla sprinkles, and their must try flavors like strawberry shortcake give everyone an option. There are even a couple savory breakfast and lunch options like their chicken sandwiches. 

2 – The Crystal City Water Park

While not technically being one restaurant, it still serves as an exciting new series of small stands with a more high end seafood focused restaurant located above the park’s waterfall. The stalls sell a wide selection of different foods from their menus. Whether it’s the massive rotating menu of Gelato at Dolci Gelati, A warm cup of coffee at Brij, Vietnamese Sandwiches and Pho at the first brick and mortar location of the food truck Pho Wheels, New York style brick oven Pizza at Crush Pizza, or any other of the 11 different restaurants and stalls operated within the park. The park is located in Crystal City, 5 miles from Wakefield.

3 – BurgerFi Rosslyn

A new location in the Northeastern Burger chain will open in January 2024 in Rosslyn. Serving classic fast food options such as burgers, chicken, fries, and semi uncommon selections of hotdogs and onion rings. Burgerfi also offers a well sized dessert selection of custard and shakes alongside some specialty items. Along with that it has the benefit of being near HB Woodlawn, making it a great meetup spot for anyone with friends attending HB. It’s located in Rosslyn, 5.4 miles from Wakefield.
