She meets some of her dad’s neighbors being called too white for not understanding her culture. Fixing a building is one thing, but understanding a new side of her family could take more than one summer.
The Witch Boy by Molly Ostertag

Conflict arises when 13 year old Aster still hasn’t shifted yet and his mom finds out he’s been learning witchcraft in secret. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton
