Virginia Commonwealth University is a public university located in Richmond, Virginia the University has more 3100 people enrolled who pursue over 222 degree and certificate programs. VCU is a research institution that has a record $256 million in sponsored research funding.

Twenty-eight graduate and first-professional programs are ranked by U.S. News and World Report as among the best in the country. VCU’s prestige’s health program attracts many students pursuing a career in medicine.

The campus is a vibrant, urban city located in the center of Richmond, Virginia. VCU is a large school that offers 24 on campus dining facilities and 122 weekly fitness classes; there is always somewhere to go and something to do. There are many clubs, sports, and volunteer opportunities on campus, as well as some activities in the city.

VCU is readily compared to Wakefield; it is comprised of a diverse group of students: 51% white, 18% black, 16% Asian, 8% Hispanic, and 5% mixed. It is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in the state and perhaps the country, creating a cultural mosaic that attracts many students.

VCU is a very good school and is often overlooked. The acceptance rate is 64% and in state tuition is around 12,000-13,000 and meets 59% of need. This is a great school to put on your list. Go Rams!
