Stick skills are required to win any field hockey game.

The Varsity Field Hockey team won last Monday against their divisional opponent, George Mason, 2-1 in OT. Wakefield scored first with a goal during the first half off of a corner. The ladies held possession for the rest of the first half. They dominated the shooting game. The Mason Mustangs stormed back to life during the second half though. Mason scored a goal to tie the game with only 30 seconds on the clock. The game went into OT. Our Wakefield Warriors rallied, and in the first minute of overtime moved the ball down the field. They were unstoppable. Madeline Brophy scored the game winning goal less than a minute later. After the game, Ashley Lemus ’14 said, “It was a hard fought, well-deserved win. Yay!” The red marks that would eventually become bruises on the players’ arms and legs can attest to that.
