The members of Wakefield’s Swim and Dive Team agree that hard work, believing in each other and supporting each other create the close community they have. When asked about the Wakefield Swim and Dive community, they all responded with how they love the support this community gives them. The team shared their greatest experiences in the water and talked about the remaining meets of the season.

Junior Catarina Davis said, “my greatest experience was joining the team… joining helped me realize school sports aren’t intimidating.” With this being her fist year on the team, it really shows the impact her teammates, coaches and supporters make. “Our team is very supportive of each other, we have a really strong bond which really helps at meets” said sophomore Ellie Hannon. Senior Brook said of the team, “I don’t know…we are just having fun. It is all about the love; it keeps us together.”

The Warriors have two meets (Friday the 15th and 22nd) before the Conference Tournament. We asked Coach Mallon about the upcoming tournament; “I think we have a chance to do well, in the span of 3 years, we’ve grown a lot not just in numbers but in ability. We have an opportunity at Conference.”  Sophomore Tariq Gardner said, “I am really excited. We have a lot of determined swimmers; we should do great.” Coach Mallon has been his coach since 6th grade. He has done wonders with the team. Junior Lauren McCarter said, ” we have strong swimmers who will do well.”

The Conference Tournament is here at Wakefield, starting Thursday the 28th, continuing Friday and concluding on Saturday. Go support your fellow Warriors, #WarriorNation!
