Freshman Girls Basketball: Where Are They At? Season Update

The Freshman Girls Basketball team has a record of 5 wins and 8 losses. With only 3 games remaining in the season, these girls have had a season filled with many ups and downs. Having eight players on the team really gave these girls the opportunity to get to know one another and figure out how to work together.

They had a very slow start to the season, losing their first 5 games. That can be hard to come back from. These Warriors never stopped fighting and learned something from every game they played.

It took time and practice to get their first win against Lee High School, 33-7. After a long Winter Break, Wakefield kept their momentum up and beat TJ, 28-13. Seeking another win, these ladies played a great game against Edison and got the W, with a final score of 24-13

Unfortunately, the ladies couldn’t hold onto their winning streak and lost 3 games in a row against the Marshall Statesmen, the Falls Church Jaguars, and the Jeb Stuart Raiders.

These girls have proven they know how to bounce back, beating Lee again 27-15. Coach Z said, “They fought hard; they were a well improved team.” Just days later, Wakefield had a 31-12 home victory over TJ!

The ladies all agreed their goal for the end of their season is to “finish strong.” We believe in you!

Come out and support them TONIGHT at 4:30 as they play their last home game against Edison! Good luck ladies!!
