The Wizards are looking to build on their very successful 2016-2017 campaign!

The Wizards have some stuff to improve on and they wanted to find the right pieces to get them over the apparent DC Playoff drought, with clutch signings of shooting guard Jodie Meeks, forward Devin Robinson, forward Mike Scott, and forward Mike Young, the wizards added some strength to their bench and added some much needed shooting power to some offensively lacking positions. Another offseason move that the Wizards made was to extend superstar point guard John Wall’s contract!

The Wizards preseason went pretty well with wins against tough teams like the Cavs and Knicks and a pretty impressive win against the Chinese team, Guangzhou Long-Lions.

Before we get too far into the season, here are some Wizards’ players to look out for this year!

John Wall: Wall in his 8th year in the NBA is looking to solidify himself as a bonafide Superstar! Wall, who is coming off of a season where he averaged 23 points a game, 10 assists per game, and 3 rebounds per game, is looking to build on his impressive 2016-2017 campaign. He recently took up a challenge from NBA legend Kobe Bryant; Kobe’s challenge to Wall was to make the NBA all-defensive team. Defense is something that Wall needs to work on. Wall so far has averaged 21 points, 10 assists, and 4 rebounds through out the first 19 games! Wall is looking like a complete beast and is developing into the superstar we all know he is! Look out for Wall this year!

Kelly Oubre Jr: Oubre has impressed in his 3rd season in the District, and he’s looking like a player who DC fans will love for a long time! Kelly has started this season with impressive moves! He’s averaging 11 points, 1 assist, and 6 rebounds through 19 games. Look for Oubre to make an impact this seasons: whether it’s coming off the bench and making a clutch bucket, or starting and dazzling people with his strong passing ability and court vision!

Bradley Beal: Beal has been amazing in his time at Washington! The Wizards finally have themselves a sharpshooter who can pull up and shoot from almost anywhere on the court! So far this season Beal is averaging 24 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal per game! Bradley has shown up and is living up to his long term deal! Beal is looking to improve on his 2016 campaign and is looking to solidify himself as one of the leagues premier shooting guards.

Marcin Gortat: Gortat or as fans lovingly call him ” The Hammer” has been hit or miss for the Wizards. Either he’s been amazing, knocking down shots and playing lockdown defense, or he’s played sloppy, committed bad fouls, or has just made questionable decisions on the court. So far this season Gortat has averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds per game.  Gortat is looking like a lockdown center! If Gortat works on his consistency, look for the 6’11 Polish beast to be a real force in the league.

Otto Porter Jr: The Georgetown grad has made DC his home and is playing pretty well! Otto’s career in the Nation’s capital started off kinda rough and he’s had to work hard to get to where he is today! Otto has been pretty great so far this season averaging 17 points, 2 assists, and 8 rebounds per game! With his early season success, look for Otto to be battling for a spot on the Eastern conference All-Star team!

Markieff  Morris: Since coming to DC from the Phoenix Suns, Morris has been a reliable force at power forward last year he averaged 14 points, 2 assists, and 7 rebounds per game. The Wizards are hoping for another pretty solid season from Morris. those hopes were thrashed when Morris had to miss the first couple of games of the year due to injury. Markieff is back and healthy and working his way back into the starting lineup. They are giving him limited minutes, but when Morris is fully healthy watch out as he can have a huge impact on every game!

The Wizards have started off the 2017-2018 campaign burning hot! Through the first 19 games our Wizards are going 10-9 and are looking to continue their hot streak!

Our core group of players are looking like All Stars! There are a lot of games to look forward to in the district this year as our Wizards look to dethrone the Cavaliers and the resurgent Celtics and take the East!

Here is the schedule of games.
