Astroworld: It Is Not His Fault

Astroworld: It Is Not His Fault

If you’ve been on the internet this month, then you know about Travis Scott and the horrible events that happened during the Astroworld concert one month ago. The concert was already destined to fail from the beginning because of the horrible job done by the management team. The venue was too small for 50,000 people; the concert was severely understaffed; and people were rushing the gates and jumping fences to get into the concert, which obviously wasn’t good since the venue staff couldn’t even handle the people with tickets.

Since the concert, 10 people have died. Eight people died at the concert, while the latest two died at the hospital days after, with the youngest being 9 year old Ezra Blount. Crowd crush was the main cause of injury and death during Astroworld. Crowd crush is basically what it sounds like, the people in the middle and back got crushed when people in the front pushed backward which crushes them. Other problems were the lack of oxygen from the packed crowd, mosh pits, and rampant drug which caused trouble for ambulances, authorities, and staff trying to help unconscious and injured people to safety.

Though this all happened at Travis Scott’s concert, I don’t believe it’s his fault.

Now that Travis, and others, are being sued for 2 billion dollars, according to Rolling Stone, I feel like it’s important to say that he isn’t to blame. He isn’t the one most to blame. Like a large portion of the blame should fall on the management team for not being able to control the crowds. They should have prepared better for 50,000 people and made sure there was enough staff, especially security because of the large number of people that jumped the fences to get into the festival. he made an apology video the next day that many said sounded fake, but I think this shows that Travis cares about his fans. At the end of it all, hopefully it will stop future senseless deaths at big concerts.
