Recently, Cam Thomas, “was waived by the Brooklyn Nets after the trade deadline…in a somewhat surprising move.” according to ESPN. This means the Nets decided to let him go and he became a free agent instead of being traded to another team. The Nets had him on the roster for the last four seasons, but they couldn’t find a trade offer they liked, so they just released him.
A lot of fans were surprised by this move because Cam Thomas is known as a good scorer. He has averaged more than 20 points in past seasons and has shown he can put up big numbers when he’s on his game. But this season was kind of rough for him because of injuries and he wasn’t always consistent. That might be why the Nets decided to move on and look for other players.
According to Nationaltoday, the Milwaukee Bucks signed him pretty quickly; “ just three days after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets. This move provides Thomas a fresh start after struggling to establish himself as a consistent contributor with the rebuilding Nets. ” The Bucks have been looking for more scoring options, and Thomas could help them bring points off the bench.
This move to the Bucks is a big deal for Cam Thomas because it gives him a chance to play with new teammates. According to Nationaltoday, “Playing alongside superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and a different coaching staff in Milwaukee could help Thomas improve upon his weaknesses and revive his NBA career.” He talked about how excited he is to get to know everyone and contribute right away. Even though things didn’t work out in Brooklyn, he still has a chance to show that he belongs in the league and can help a playoff-contending team.
This was a roller coaster for Cam Thomas. Being waived must have been hard, but signing with the Bucks could be a really cool moment for him. I think it shows that even when stuff doesn’t go your way, you can still get another opportunity if you stay positive and keep working hard.
It seems like Cam Thomas has really settled in with the Bucks, scoring 13 points in 13 minutes in his first game with Milwaukee, 34 points off the bench in a big win, and 17 points in another matchup. Those first 3 games have been looking really well for him. The season will tell all.
