It was really surprising to see Mohamed Salah not start for Liverpool in three games in a row. Salah has always been a star for Liverpool, scoring lots of goals , breaking records, and helping the team win big matches. So when I read that he was on the bench, I was like, “Wait, what?” It seemed weird because he’s usually the one everyone talks about when Liverpool plays.
According to ESPN, the coach must have had reasons we don’t totally know yet. It made me realise that even the best players can have tough moments. According to the ESPN article, “Rooney said, ‘What’s hard, when you’re a player and you get the age where your performances drop, you look for reasons why. The last person you look at is yourself…Only he can help him get out this situation, by playing better! Rather than looking internally, he’s looking for anything to put the blame on.”
Mohamed Salah going from star starter to sitting on the bench for a few games in a row is a big deal for a lot of Liverpool fans. He is headed to Egypt “for the Africa Cup of Nations…on Dec. 15 and could be absent for a month depending on their progress.” I’m curious to see what ESPN, or the team, says after that is over!
