Miley Cyrus met with her former “Hannah Montana” Disney Channel co-stars at an LA premiere event which commemorated the 20th anniversary of the show that started her path to musical success. Cyrus, who now operates as a genuine music superstar, shared her new understanding of the show after viewing it as an adult because she had not understood its complete value during her time as a 13-year-old show member.
The anniversary special, which Disney+ and Hulu released, features historical footage and musical acts that perform the show theme song “The Best of Both Worlds” and it includes a complete interview with podcast creator Alex Cooper. The special includes appearances from fellow cast members like Jason Earles and Cody Linley, as well as celebrity friends including Selena Gomez and Chappell Roan, who spoke about Cyrus’ influence on her career.
The event included private times when Cyrus tried to replicate her special handshake with her father Billy Ray Cyrus and she performed a new song that she dedicated to her younger self. The show cast members used obsolete technology references which included flip phones to show how much time had passed since their original broadcast period. According to AP News, as Miley Cyrus told the audience at the premiere, “without you all, this show would have never been what it is, and I love saying what it is, not what it was.”
